Boys????

I just don't understand them. I'm sure they say the same thing about girls, but I just don't think I am that complicated. Now maybe I have some unrealistic expectations of boys, but is it that hard to be a gentleman? Is it that hard to understand that I want them to make the first move? I'm all for the strong, powerful, independent woman, but I still want to be treated like the princess that I am. I still want someone to open the door for me, or walk me to my car. I also want them to be the first one to call me or ask me out. I have a few friends that always tell me that if you like him "ask him out." No, I want him to ask ME out. I might be single for the rest of my life waiting for a boy to make the first move, but I am holding my ground! Just the other day a boy told me, "let me know if you want my number." If I want your number? Why don't you ask for my number? My mom thinks I am going to be single for the rest of my life because I am too picky. I am not picky, I just know what I want, I want a gentleman! I don't think I should settle for someone that won't treat me with the respect I deserve. I have provided a life for myself all on my own, I have proven that I don't "need" a man in my life. I would like a man in my life, but they need to add to my life not take away from it. I know they are few and far between, but I am still convinced that there is a gentleman out there for me.

Stick to your guns! I absolutely agree with you and I don't think that nay of this means you will or have to be single. I really think that dudes just don't get it. The whole comment, "let me know if you want my number" first made me roll my eyes but after thinking about it I just think guys are way confused. The whole independent woman thing throws them off and really it's been my experience that they are mostly insecure and uncertain and so they don't proceed or end up saying/doing dumb things like that!

Regardless, you know what you want. It's not a tall order and I think you should go with what works for you. Just be sure to cut them a little slack now and again!
